Many employers will pay for certificates, diplomas, and degrees where the education obtained will benefit the company. They may also offer tuition reimbursement, especially in states where employers can receive a tax break for doing so. Fidelity
Fidelity offers two great options for its employees to afford post-secondary education. They will put $2,000 annually towards your existing student loans, up to $10,000 over your lifetime, paid directly to your student loan provider. They also offer a tuition reimbursement program where eligible employees taking courses or degrees that are work related may apply for reimbursement of 90% of certain costs (up to $10,000 per year) associated with the courses. Ford
For full-time active UAW-union represented hourly employees who have acquired seniority of 3 consecutive months of employment, Ford offers up to $6,000 per calendar year for courses that lead to a GED, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, PhD or approved certificate/diploma programs. They also offer up to $2,700 per year towards courses that expand employees’ personal development within the corporation. Ford also offers up to $500 per year to employees pursuing general continuing education, all paid directly to the education institution. Ford may also include fees for prior learning assessments, CLEP Testing, and licensing fees. Starbucks Umbrella Corporation (Starbucks, Teavana, Evolution Fresh, La Boulange)
Partnering with Arizona State University, Starbucks offers all part- and full-time benefits to eligible U.S. employees who do not already have a bachelor’s, and full tuition coverage for every year of college to earn a bachelor’s degree. For employees who are not educationally eligible to attend ASU, Starbucks and ASU also offer programs to help those employees fill in gaps in their academic history by completing up to 10 freshman-level courses, as many times as they want, tuition-free. Employees who have worked their first shift can begin the consultation and application process and may enroll in classes after they have worked for 3 consecutive months at an average of 20 hours per week. Part-time union employees can earn up to $5,250 per calendar year to a maximum of $25,000 towards college expenses. Eligibility begins the day of hire and is pro-rated if you are hired mid-semester. Full-time non-union employees and part-time management employees are also eligible for education benefits.
